Fiat Chrysler Recalls 1 Million Ram Pickups Following Death

Fiat Chrysler has announced the recall of one million pickups to repair faulty software that can disable safety features. At least one death has been linked to the defect.
Defect Can Disable Airbag and Seatbelt Functionality
According to the New York Times, the software glitch in the vehicles computer modules can fail if the underbody of the truck is struck. As a result, side airbags and seatbelt tension devices will shut off.
The defect was observed in multiple accidents which have resulted in one death and two injuries.
The recall covers roughly 1.02 million pickups in the U.S. and 259,000 trucks in Mexico, Canada, and other international markets.

The recall covers the following vehicles:
- 2013-2016 Dodge Ram 1500
- 2013-2016 Dodge Ram 25000
- 2014-2016 Dodge Ram 3500
