LP Gas Smokers Recalled — Fire Hazard

Masterbuilt, an American company, is recalling approximately 41,000 Masterbuilt and Cabela’s 7-in-1 gas smokers due to a faulty gas hose and the associated fire hazard.
About the LP Gas Smoker Recall
According to the Consumer-Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the smoker’s gas hose can disconnect, thus posing a fire hazard. CPSC recommends that consumers immediately stop using their gas smokers and contact Masterbuilt for a free replacement rubber LP gas hose.
Five cases of the PVC gas hose being disconnected, and one instance of property damage from a resulting fire, have so far been reported, though no injuries have been sustained as of yet.
Description of Recalled Gas Smokers
The following information was provided by the CPSC:
- This recall involves Masterbuilt and Cabela’s 7-in-1 gas smokers, whose three-piece cylindrical body design consists of a lid, center body, and base which sits on the LP gas burner stand.
- They also have a porcelain flame disk bowl, water bowl, cooking grates, 10-quart pot and basket, thermometer, burner and a PVC hose, and weigh about 32 pounds each.
- The smokers are either black with a Masterbuilt logo, or come in green or stainless steel with a Cabela’s logo.
- These smokers were sold at Army, Air Force Exchange, Cabela’s, Gander Mountain and other stores nationwide and online at Amazon.com from April 2011 to October 2016 for about $150 to $200.
